My history is typically, “All American.” Having grown up in a small town in Iowa, my brother and I worked with our Dad, who owned a successful commercial painting contract business. By the age of 24, I started my own business in Houston, Texas, painting water towers, silos, and radio towers. You name it – I painted it!
In the midst of preparing a bid on a huge job, I was required to take a respirator test. This test requires you to breathe into a test tube to see what your lung capacity is. I failed the test miserably. My doctor warned me that if I wanted to live to be forty, I needed to quit painting immediately and move to a higher altitude to clean out my lungs. Atlanta REIA is very excited to partner up with Flipping Atlanta to bring you this new educational and networking experience. Flipping Atlanta is the local networking chapter for Flipping America, a nationally syndicated radio show about real estate investing. The show originates in Atlanta, Georgia and the program host, Roger Blankenship is often on-hand to lead the group.
Flipping Atlanta meets on the 2nd Thursday of every month at 6PM at Roam Perimeter Center located at 1151 Hammond Dr NE #240 in Dunwoody, GA on the 2nd floor of the Perimeter Expo Shopping Center which is just across the street from Perimeter Mall.

Atlanta Area Renovation Projects
Please join us on Tuesday, May 15th at NOON for the Atlanta REIA Onsite Renovation Group (ORG), hosted by Don DeRosa and Dustin Griffin, to learn all about finding, funding, fixing and flipping houses for big profits. This month’s Onsite meeting will be held at Andy Block’s 1st rehab located at 859 Custer St, Hapeville, GA. We visited this house back in December and you can Watch the Onsite Video Replay here to see what it looked like then.
Since we last visited in December, Andy tore off the roof of the original ranch home and “popped the top” to add more square footage. The house went from roughly 900 sqft to just under 2400 sqft. Essentially all of the walls and floor beams had to be replaced due to rot and termite damage.
Andy also added a back and front deck, took down a massive pecan tree and leveled the front yard. The house is now a 4/3. The cement siding is up and getting painted and the rough-in inspection will be done soon. Over the next week, the sheetrock will be installed and after that flooring, kitchen and cabinets. Come join us and see how this massive rehab is progressing!
