What’s Happening at Atlanta REIA – Week of June 27, 2011

This is another great week at Atlanta REIA! Monday night at Atlanta REIA West, Russ Hiner will be teaching you how to hone your negotiating skills. On Tuesday at the Note Buyers Group, Tom Boyer is going to teach you how to make money buying and selling real estate notes. Thursday is the Haves & Wants Meeting for real estate players looking to do deals now. This Saturday is the “Saturday in the Park” with Atlanta REIA. Bring your family and come party in the park with us!

Atlanta REIA is pleased to announce that Russ Hiner will be our special guest speaker at our Atlanta REIA West Meeting on Monday, June 27th at 6:30 PM at the Cherokee Cattle Company located at 2710 Canton Road in Marietta, GA (Map). Buying your own meal is optional but highly recommended and greatly appreciated since the Cherokee Cattle Company allows us to use their meeting room. There will be lots of learning and lots of networking. Bring your deals and your haves, wants and needs to the event.

The Note Buyers Group (NBG) is a new Atlanta REIA educational and networking subgroup led by Tom Boyer that is designed to teach real estate investors how to buy and sell the mortgage notes that secure a property rather than buying the property itself. The group’s goal is to transact deals within the group and increase our professionalism through education in a changing credit market. The agenda for this month’s meeting is (1) Haves/Wants, (2) Notes for Sale – Bring yours for analysis, (3) Smaller investment amount opportunities and (4) Strategies using seller financing to buy/sell properties.

The group meets on the 4th Tuesday of each month from 6:30 PM to 9:00 PM at Olive Garden located at 2467 Cobb Parkway SE in Smyrna about 1/2 mile from I-285. If you are a new investor, this is a great opportunity to pick up pointers on what to do and what not to do when investing in notes. Atlanta REIA Members can attend at no charge.

Haves and Wants is a weekly investor’s networking, brainstorming and deal making jam session hosted by Joe Thompson and held at 5 Seasons Brewing located at 5600 Roswell Rd (map) inside the Perimeter at the “Prado” in Sandy Springs from 1:30 PM till approximately 3:00 PM. Atlanta REIA invites you and your family to join us Saturday in the Park for the Roswell Riverside Sounds outdoor concert series that take place on the first Saturday of each month all summer long. We will be rockin’ on the Chattahoochee at Riverside Park located at 575 Riverside Road in Roswell, GA. We meet in the park starting at 5:30 PM and the concert starts at 7 PM and ends at 9 PM. We will be setting up at the back right-hand side of the park (see aerial photo) as you enter the concert area from the parking lot. This month the band will be Whiskey Gentry that defies categorization. They play bluegrass to punk to gospel to outlaw country to old-time rock and roll, the band combines accomplished musicianship with high-energy stage shows. Come party in the park with us! & 1 Year Anniversary Celebration

In July, Atlanta REIA is celebrating our 1 Year Anniversary! It has been a great year and we have grown our membership to hundreds of members and have dramatically expanded and improved our organization. We thank all of our members, volunteers, subgroup leaders, vendors and speakers who have contributed to our growth.

To celebrate our 1 Year Anniversary, the 4th of July and our Financial Independence Day, we are throwing our first exclusive Atlanta REIA Vendor Trade Show on Monday, July 11th at 5:30 PM at the Westin Atlanta Perimeter North located at 7 Concourse Parkway in the Bernstein Ballroom overlooking the hotel pool and patio. Atlanta REIA Members can attend at NO CHARGE and Guests for only $10 each. Vendors can reserve a vendor table for as low as $25 for a limited time only.
