Steve Brown

Steve Brown has been an active real estate broker and investor since 1980 and has over 30 years experience. His very first deal was with the Coca Cola Company on the lease of a large commercial building that he was rehabbing and planning to turn into a self storage facility. From there he went on to build his first shopping center that he pre-leased to 80% capacity before purchasing the property.
Steve came to Atlanta in 1968 with an MBA degree in finance and marketing. His last full time employment with a REIT, Tri-South Mortgage Investors, as the money market manager. After watching all the developers get wealthy, he got excited and left his job and started investing in commercial real estate. Steve has built and renovated low and high end houses and has built and sold all types of commercial buildings and continues to do so to this day.
Steve is currently the leader of the Cash Cows Commercial Real Estate Group that meets on the 4th Thursday of the month at 11:30 AM at 5 Seasons Brewing located at 5600 Roswell Rd in Sandy Springs, GA. New Meeting! Movers and Shakers is a new educational and networking subgroup led by Gordon Catts for intermediate and advanced investors rather than new investors. The group meets on the 3rd Monday of each month at the 5 Seasons Brewing located at 3655 Old Milton Parkway in Alpharetta, GA (Map). The doors open at 11:00 AM to order food and network and the program officially starts at 11:30 AM. Atlanta REIA members can attend at no charge and non-members for $5.00.
Barbara Payne, Executive Director of the Fulton County Taxpayers Foundation, will address the February Movers and Shakers Lunch meeting on how to reduce your property taxes. With falling property values in much of metro Atlanta, it is critical to understand the importance of analyzing your properties to make sure your tax assessments are in-line with current values. There are new State statutes affecting property tax reductions so it is important to know how to appeal your property taxes to get them reduced. We are thrilled to have Barb Payne speak on this timely topic.

On February 19th, 2011 from 10 AM to 5 PM, Gordon Catts and Dustin Griffin, will be teaching our first Atlanta REIA “How to Build a Buyers List Workshop” at 1960 Skylar Hill Dr, Suite D, in Buford, GA.
In the highly competitive real estate market we operate in today, it is foolish to wait until you have a property and then try to generate a buyer specific for that property. There has to be a better way!
Generate a list of buyers that you can plug into properties as they become available. If you are in the business of being an investor, it makes sense to create and manage a strong buyers list. It’s much more efficient and will help you make wiser and more profitable real estate investment decisions.

We have scheduled our first Atlanta REIA Social Networking 101 Workshop for February 20th, 2011 from 1:00 PM to 6:00 PM at 1960 Skylar Hill Dr, Suite D in Buford, GA. This workshop, taught by Dustin Griffin, is designed to teach attendees how to network with other people and businesses online in order to promote themselves, their businesses and Atlanta REIA using various online social networking tools such as Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, Google, Meetup, Linked In, Realty Join, Skype and much more.
Immediately after this event, starting at 6:30 PM, there is an Atlanta REIA Cashflow Players Game Night at Taco Mac in Suwanee (map) which is only about 5 to 10 minutes from Social Networking Workshop. So first come learn with us and then come play with us!
