Haves & Wants Speed Marketing Comes to Atlanta REIA Main Meeting Starting January 3rd!
Atlanta REIA has asked Joe Thompson of the weekly Have’s and Wants Meeting to host Atlanta REIA’s new Have’s and Wants Speed Marketing Session starting January 3rd at 5:30 PM at the Atlanta REIA Main Monthly Meeting. Our goal for this session is the same as at Joe’s Thursday meetings. Joe says “Were looking to aid our members who HAVE things they no longer wish to have as well as those members who WANT things they have been unable to find through their own networks. Our Mission is to increase our members networks and their ability to access the resources necessary to increase their business.” This session is all about making deals happen, so bring in your have’s and wants and share them with our live audience. It gets even better… we will be video recording the Speed Marketing Session and putting it on AtlantaREIA.com for 24/7 playback. Shooting Photos & Video, Uploading & Tagging on Facebook
Bring your digital camera to the Atlanta REIA Meeting and Party and take lots of pictures and videos of you and your friends during the event. After the Speed Marketing Session, Dustin Griffin is going to show you how to upload pictures and videos to Facebook from your PC or cell phone and tag yourself and your friends if you don’t already know how. Using pictures and video is a great way to network and make friends in-person and to continue networking online long after the meeting and party is over.

Atlanta REIA Charter/Founding Member Status Ends in Jan 2011
We founded the Atlanta Real Estate Investors Alliance back in June of this year, had our first meeting on July 5th and have been getting stronger and stronger each and every month thanks to your help and support. Our Charter Membership Drive, which began on October 4th, will end on January 31st, 2011. This does not mean that you can’t still become an Atlanta REIA Member, it just means that you will not forever be classified as a “Charter” or “Founding Member” of the Atlanta Real Estate Investors Alliance. If you do choose to become an official Atlanta REIA Charter Member, it will be a designation and honor that you can put on your “resume” for many, many years to come. We will also be forever listing you on our website, as well as a plaque at our headquarters, as an official Atlanta REIA Founding Member of organization. How I Got Started in Real Estate Investing

I was nervous. I was confused. I didn’t know if real estate investing was going to work for me, but i really wanted it too! It was my first deal and I was doing it with another investor who wanted to use my money. I thought I had everything set.
If it DID work, I was going to get my money back and make a BIG chunk o’ change. If not, I faced embarrassment and shame in front of my friends and family. I had read a few books. I had studied the concepts. I thought I did everything right.
Wrong! Luck was not on my side. Although I did the deal, I ended up getting cheated by the other investor and I lost all of my money. Everything that could go wrong did go wrong! Ever hear of “Murphy’s Law?” Yeah. It was like that but a lesson well learned.
I could feel the pain, anger and confusion boiling in the pit of my stomach like a bad Mexican meal. I was almost ready to quit – even after just ONE deal! But something inside me made me give it another try. I knew it was my fault that I screwed up and allowed myself to get taken advantage of by another investor who knew a lot more than I did.
Being a professional college student for many years, I figured I just needed a little guidance and training. After all, if it worked for so many other people, why couldn’t real estate work for me? So rather than give up, I decided to DO something about it. I had to make myself smarter. I had to learn some more and get the right training like I did in my college days.
But where could I go? Who could teach me? This was before I even knew real estate investor groups like Atlanta REIA even existed.So I began my search. (Read more to see what I discovered!) Read More→

Recently I attended another Real estate Seminar. It was held at an upscale hotel. There were the usual cast of characters in the room… a cross section of beginners to experienced investors. I saw a number of familiar faces. Folks from the local REIAs were in attendance. The instructor was upbeat confident and appeared a knowledgeable doer. He asked the audience 2 telling questions:
- How many of you are making 10 offers a week?
- How many of you have a buyers list?
