What’s Happening at Atlanta REIA – Week of February 20, 2012

We’ve got another awesome week of meetings, webcasts, workshops networking events lined up. Monday is the Movers & Shakers Lunch Meeting on Section 8 Housing. Tuesday is a Webcast on Selling & Renting Your Houses Online. Wednesday is the Beginning Investors Group with Bill Cook. Thursday is the Cash Cow Commercial Group and Haves & Wants. Saturday is our first Real Estate Investing 101 Workshop with Russ Hiner.

Wouldn’t it be nice to have the rent check deposited directly into your checking account? How about having a tenant who has serious incentive to follow strict guidelines? Join us on Monday, February 20th at 11:00 at the Movers and Shakers meeting at the 5 Seasons Brewery located at 3655 Old Milton Parkway in Alpharetta. Our special guest will be representatives from the Atlanta Housing Authority. They will be discussing the Section 8 Housing Program. If you own property in the City of Atlanta, you should attend. For those who own property in other areas it is still important to attend. You will come away with a better understanding of the Section 8 Program as well as have an opportunity to have your questions answered.

Movers and Shakers is an educational and networking group led by Gordon Catts that is designed to meet the interests of intermediate and advanced investors rather than new investors. The group meets on the 3rd Monday of each month at 5 Seasons Brewing in Alpharetta. The doors open at 11:00 AM and the program officially starts at 11:30 AM. Atlanta REIA members can attend at no charge and non-members for $5.00.

As new investors, we are always looking for information on how to do our first (or next) big deal. This month at BIG, we’re going in a totally opposite direction. We;re going to be talking about what NOT to do as a anew investor. Our special guest speaker is going to be Bill Cook, leader of the North Georgia Real Estate Investors Association. Bill is regarded as one of the most experienced investors in the country and will be talking about the mistakes he has made while investing, and what not to do as a first time investor. It will certainly be a VERY informative and if you know Bill, humorous topic.

BIG, the Beginning Investors Group, meets on Wednesday, February 22, at Chef Rob’s Caribbean Cafe at 5920 Roswell Rd in Sandy Springs. The meeting begins at 6:30 pm with networking and at 7pm we start with a short presentation by the group’s founder and leader Alan McDonald. Haves and Wants is a weekly investor’s networking, brainstorming and deal making jam session hosted by Joe Thompson and held every Thursday at 5 Seasons Brewing located at 5600 Roswell Rd (map) inside the Perimeter at the “Prado” in Sandy Springs from 1:30 PM till approximately 3:00 PM. This group is all about doing deals and making money right now. If you are a real estate player or want to be, this is one meeting you don’t want to miss!
