Squeeze Page Madness!! A Quick Guide to Setting Up Your First Squeeze Page – Part 2
Posted on January 4, 2016 byWelcome Back! If you’re just joining us, we’re talking about what Squeeze Pages are in the wonderful world of Internet Marketing. In the last issue, we covered what the heck a Squeeze Page IS & why you should care. In this issue, we’re picking up where we left off, staring with…
Why Do Businesses Use Squeeze Pages & Why Are They So Powerful?
Let’s use that example of the restaurant giving away a free dessert or appetizer. They would usually sell that item for $4-$9, right? But then what? They drop the check, collect their money & say good-bye to the customer… Hoping that they’ll come back someday soon.
These days, that’s not enough anymore! If a business is not collecting & building a list of their prospects & customers, they’re missing out on a HUGE opportunity to follow up and maintain communication with them! During that process, they can provide value and build a better relationship with their list.
Wouldn’t you rather eat at a restaurant that’s keeping contact with you, letting you know what’s going on, and occasionally letting you know what special foods or events they have coming up? Of course you would!
That’s the whole point of having a Squeeze Page: To give something of value away in exchange for your prospect’s email address, so that you can follow up with them, build a relationship, and sell them your goods or services!!
What business wouldn’t want to do that? Answer: The ones who either don’t ‘get it’ or just don’t care. Obviously, that’s not you, or you wouldn’t be reading this report, right?
What Should a Squeeze Page Look Like? How Should it be Set Up?
That’s a good question, and the answer is: It depends! What is your business/industry? What niche is it? What are you offering? What do you want? What is your ultimate goal? Where are you advertising your squeeze page?
Yeah, there’s a lot of things to consider here, I know. And there’s a lot of directions we could take this. In fact, we could spend a whole weekend just working on perfecting the art of Squeeze Pages! (upcoming seminar, maybe?)
But you’re only reading this special article, so we’ll have to keep it simple here.
Believe it or not, the best, highest-converting squeeze pages are the ones that are simply designed and ask for a minimum amount of information, while at the same time promising to deliver something of a very highly perceived value.
The usual required elements, at a minimum, are: Headline, Sub-Headline (optional), Video (optional), Bullet Points (optional, but recommended), A picture and/or description of what you’re offering (Link Bait), Some Benefits, and the Optin Form with the submit button.
A good Squeeze Page usually has either a plain color background OR a ‘sexy’ image (like a beach… or a girl in a bikini on the beach, or a beautiful house in the background).
The text (also known as ‘copy’) offers the visitor something sweet & enticing in exchange for their email address. Usually, it’s in the form of information, like a downloadable pdf file or an interesting video to watch. The information promised is offered in a way that’s designed to arouse your curiosity and hook you in.
The Headline of the page is the main hook. It needs to stop the visitor cold in their tracks, smack them in the face to get their attention, and get them to keep reading.
A popular example of a good headline is: “FREE Report Reveals the Shocking Secrets of How to XXXXX (benefit) in Less Than XXXXXX (time frame).”
A few years ago, I ran a local Real Estate Investors Association (REIA), and I attracted many members through the squeeze page I had for the club. On that page, I was offering to give away a very valuable basic wholesaling course I wrote.
On the Squeeze Page, my headline was:
“How to Make $10,000 (or more) in the Next 30 Days (or less) Without Using Your Own Money or Credit…Guaranteed!”
The conversion rates were through the roof!
Under the Headline, you’ll put the Sub-Headline. This should expand a little bit on the headline.
These days, there’s something called a ‘two-step optin’ that’s become very popular.
It’s basically a slightly fancier version of a Squeeze Page, because you don’t see the optin form (asking you for your name & email address) right away when you land on the page. Instead, you’ll see a Button that may say something like “Download Now” or “Get Instant Access!” When you click that button, you see the optin form appear for you to enter your information. It’s brilliant because it first gets you to believe that you’re going to immediately get the freebie giveaway by clicking the button. The psychology is that once you click that button, you’ve already taken a step in the direction of where you want to go, so all you need to do is fill out the form and you’re good.
