We are very excited about our next Atlanta REIA Main Meeting is on Monday, July 7th at the Salvation Army Building located at 2090 N Druid Hills Rd NE, Atlanta, GA 30329. This month we will be having our monthly vendor tradeshow as usual, but will also be having a Expert Panel Discussion on “Understanding the Ever-Changing Atlanta Real Estate Market”. Gordon Catts will be moderating a panel of real estate experts consisting of Rhonda Duffy of Duffy Realty, John Holman of HomeVestors, Robert Locke of Crown Management and John Mangham with Starker Services.

The Atlanta Metro Area real estate market has changed dramatically since this time last year. Perhaps you’ve heard there is an “Atlanta Inventory Crisis”.

  • Certain areas have gone from a buyer’s market to a seller’s market due to the inventory shortage of available homes for sale at auction or on the MLS.
  • Many Realtors are not only struggling to get listings, but also to find suitable properties for their buyers.
  • Some area property values have risen close to 2007 levels. Many home owners who have been “under water” may be close to break even in these areas.
  • REO Brokers are reporting that banks are not releasing foreclosed inventory. Instead, they are reportedly selling off blocks of pre-foreclosed (“bad paper”) and foreclosed homes to large institutional buyers.
  • Shadow inventory is alive and well and some of the foreclosure firms have laid off staff. The number of pre foreclosures is down and yet it is not consistent with delinquencies.
  • Out of state and foreign buyers are active in the market and Atlanta is a favorite destination for real estate gurus once again.

Quantum Coincidences

Jay ConnerI’ve been known to say that “Coincidence is God’s way of staying anonymous,” and I feel like my life, and my career is proof of that! You may not know it, but I moonlight as a world famous composer. I started writing music at 17, and while I didn’t put out my first album until 1997, it’s always been a passion for me. Back in the day, my grand piano came all the way from Texas to North Carolina in the front of my 72 x 14 single wide—it never left my side.

Getting back to the world famous part, my big break came in a little known movie, an Alan Smithee Film, “Burn, Hollywood, Burn”. While the show itself wasn’t a favorite, my music was! Right after the movie came out, my family and I went on a vacation to California. I’ll never forget my wife pulling me out of the shower one morning in Palm Springs to listen to my song playing on the radio! Today, my compositions are played in stations across 22 countries, and in spite of the 8% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, I still get royalties from my Hollywood days.

Music taught me to follow my passions. I knew that work should be something I could be passionate about, and when I stepped into buying and selling homes, that was exactly what I was able to do—live and work passionately. I like to think that some of my best moments, or “quantum leaps,” come from my moments of greatest adversity. Maybe their power comes from the way they force the best out of you, and I look forward to the challenges – they always bring opportunities for something new!

A New Group for Doing Creative Quick Turns

Ron LeGrandThe Atlanta Homebuyers Society (AHS) is a brand new mastermind group that is forming now for persons interested in buying and selling houses for fun and profit. The program consists of the sharing of information and experiences among participants in the program related to their efforts, successes, and mistakes in regard to buying and selling real estate. The purpose of the group is to help participants become better and more profitable real estate investors and to share in those profits.

At 4:00 PM in the Main Meeting Room, the Atlanta Homebuyers Society is having its 2nd meeting for all those who may be interested in participating in the program. At this meeting, interested participants will learn more about the program, meet group leaders and learn how to apply for the program.

Joe ThompsonAt approximately 6:15 PM, Joe Thompson will be hosting the Haves & Wants Speed Marketing Session which gives our members the opportunity to quickly market deals they HAVE and to find deals they WANT. We also give our business members the opportunity to get up and say a few words about their businesses. Ron LeGrand On Wednesday, April 16th at the Atlanta REIA North Meeting located at 1960 Skylar Hill Dr, Suite D, Buford, GA we will be discussing the new Atlanta Homebuyers Society (AHS) which is now taking applications for new members. We will also be talking about how to generate motivated seller leads which is a major component of AHS.

The Atlanta Homebuyers Society is a brand new membership program and discussion group (a mastermind alliance) for persons interested in buying and selling houses for fun and profit that was inspired by Ron LeGrand’s Homebuyers Society in Jacksonville, FL. The program consists of the sharing of information and experiences among participants related to their efforts, successes, and mistakes in regard to buying and selling real estate.

AHS offers a combination of brainstorming, education, peer accountability, and support in a group setting to help sharpen participants’ real estate investing skills and achieve the success the desire. Participants will challenge each other to set goals, and more importantly, to achieve them.

Four (4) AHS Groups are now forming now in Atlanta. Russ Hiner, Rock Shukoor, Leslie Mathis and Gordon Catts will each lead an AHS group consisting of five (5) members/entities each.
